In the very heart of Birmingham’s Colmore Business District and north of the city centre, One Snowhill is a 12-storey, fully glazed and steel-framed office building built in 2009 and comprising 24,500m² of sought after Grade A office space. As part of a refurbishment and redesign of its large and dramatic office reception set beneath a full-height atrium, the building owner Union Investment decided to replace the existing Pedimat^® Ultra matting which had come to the end of its lifespan. The developer was happy to specify the tried and tested system again due to its aesthetics, ease of cleaning and maintenance, and high dirt and moisture removal performance.

To prevent the interior floor surfaces from becoming wet and slippery and to reduce the cleaning and maintenance costs throughout the building, two 6-metre wide Pedimat^® Ultra entrance mats are spanning main entrance areas of the building. The system comprises 11mm deep, mill-finished aluminium rails, hinged with vinyl splines and is available in a choice of tread options to meet the project’s aesthetic and performance requirements.  At One Snowhill, closed vinyl spline was used for increased dirt containment and ease of in-situ cleaning. In the revolving door sections, Platinum coloured exterior grade carpet inserts effectively remove dirt and moisture, while Wrought Iron coloured interior grade carpet inserts were chosen for the rest of the matting area to finish off the cleaning and drying process.
